RE: HST Modem settings for Amiga CNet 2
More than one eager new SysOp has called me in frustration, unable to put
their BBS online because they could not figure out how to configure the system
to use an HST 9600 baud modem. After conferring with a couple SysOps who have
solved this mystery, I now present ONE answer to the quandary. There are, no
doubt, other valid solutions, but this is one we KNOW works:
>>BBSPORTx file: Use any text editor to change the BBSPORT file as follows:
1. Set the Waiting for Call baud rate to 19200
2. LOCK the port at this baud rate (set to 1)
3. Set Initialization string #2 to: ATH0V1X1M0E0S2=31&B1&H1S0=0
(LEAVE initialization string #1 as: ATZ )
4. Set the hang-up escape code to 31
>>Modem DIP switches:
Set the DIP switches on the HST modem: UP=3,5,8,9 All the rest DOWN.
>>Reset the modem NRAMs:
Go to a TERMINAL, CNets own QuickTerm is fine. Type the following commands
EXACTLY as written, with RETURN at the end of every line. If you do this
correctly, these settings will become the modem's new defaults which will
come back whenever you turn the modem ON, or send ATZ to reset.

Thats it! Seems rather complicated, I know, but its something you only
have to do ONCE and your HST should hum along fine.
